At War’s Edge Episodes 249-250: Line of Sight

At War’s Edge webcomic episodes 249-250 are up. Everyone is very ready for the feast.

And a little recap, since it has been too long 🙂

We are in a small border town of Shelisk, where King Boleslav of Bereg and his cousin Prince Meled were on an inspection. Right now they’re expecting the Republic of Halcia to declare war on Bereg at any moment. With battle magic being a boyar privilege in Bereg, Halcia has a huge military advantage.
Out of desperation, Boleslav and Meled decided to strike up an alliance with the dyvs, the mysterious but magically powerful people from the Other Side. In order to do that, Meled has volunteered to marry the half-human daughter of a dyv prince.

This feast is to welcome the newly-arrived bride and her entourage, and hopefully seal the alliance.

Characters speaking, directly mentioned, or prominently appearing in this episode:

  • IVOLGA, a court seer to Prince Meled and an unlicensed battle mage. Tasked with advising and protecting the Prince’s intended bride. Last appearance: Opportunity to Speak
  • MOLCHAN, Prince Meled’s knight-descrier. Currently serving as semi-undercover security. Last appearance: Moonrise
  • YAROSVET, aka YARIK, Prince Meled’s senior knight-descrier. Also currently serving as semi-undercover security. Last appearance: Moonrise
  • HOSTIM, the steward of Shelisk. Recently had a conflict with the King due to spending a ridiculous amount of money on a sky-ship port. Last appearance: A Chance Meeting
  • TVORÍAN, a young noble orphaned in the destruction of Nelídin. Believes Hostim to be an embezzler who contributed to the destruction of Nelídin. Last appearance: A Chance Meeting
  • ZHALIBOR, the King’s court mage. Never appeared on page before, but was mentioned in passing as taking care of magic-related stuff.
  • POLADA, the Great Hunter of Bereg, the King’s aunt, chronically at odds with Prince Meled, and (possibly) Ivolga’s thoroughly estranged mother. Last appearance: Opportunity to Speak
