Art in Progress: Weeks 2 & 3

Reporting on the art in progress for the last couple of weeks. I didn’t report last Monday, but there is, in fact, progress 🙂

The city hall exterior is very nearly done:

There may be some changes required once I figure out the interior layout though, which is what I’m working on now. There are several rooms needed for the plot, but at the moment I’m focusing on the ballroom.

Or, rather, on the hallway that leads up to it. Which, so far, a) is proving to be an absolute pain to light, and b) turned out to be called the Gallery of the Spirits and be decorated with the statues of the twelve elder leralath. So yeah, I now suddenly need twelve statues. Which will be barely visible, most likely. But still need to be there. No, I don’t know why I did it to myself. It just kinda happened this way.

I’ve got five out of twelve statues more or less ready: Foresight, Fate, Order/Justice, Life, and Death.

Pretty happy with these five, except maybe Fate. Thinking of replacing that wheel with a distaff. And, ok, maybe Death’s tunic needs a bit of fixing around the hem.

Still to be figured out are: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Dream, Chaos, and Memory. I’ve got a pretty good idea what to do with Air and Memory, and somewhat worse ideas about Water and Chaos. And I’m kinda dreading Fire, Earth and Dream. Fire and Earth I’ve always imagined as dragons, I’ve no idea what their anthropomorphic forms could be like. And as for Dream… he’s such a complicated being, combining sleep, healing, thought, and free will. I just don’t know what his iconography is supposed to be like.

Not yet, anyway 🙂 We’ll see what the next week’s art progress will be like.
